Singer Songwriter Ben Walker completes a stellar year with the release of the catchy, thought provoking, social commentary “Time Machine” from his recently released album “A Place I Like To Go To”.
Teaming up with good friend Allan Caswell, this Country Folk single weaves humour into a stark message. As Ben says:
“It turns out, if you put me and Allan at my kitchen table, with a couple of cans of Guinness, and set us off talking about the state of the world – you end up with “Time Machine”! I’d seen a news segment the night before about a father whose family was about to be evicted because he couldn’t pay the rent. As a Dad myself, I like to stay positive about the future but that interview was still in my head when Allan arrived. Time Machine is one part my perspective thinking about my boys, one part Allan’s take, and a sprinkle of tongue in cheek humour. Played live it always lands so well.”

New Single, New Album for Ben Walker
Having released the single from which the album title came from, “A Place I Like To Go To”, Ben Walker is today releasing the entire album, a masterpiece of carefully crafted songs painting a rich tapestry of life. Of the album, Stuart Coupe says: Ben Walker writes songs of heart, soul, joy, sadness and hope. He writes them with nuance, poignancy and insight. He is simply a very very fine wordsmith. The recordings of those songs on this album straddle many musical styles. Are they folk? Are they country? Does it really matter? They fall under a broad umbrella of music which is held together by a couple of essential tenants–they are beautiful written (and sung) observations on life, times and the emotions that we all experience. They rank amongst some of the finest examples of song writing coming from this country. In the same way that the likes of Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers, Don Walker, Julia Jacklin, and Grace Cummings aren’t labelled with a musical category–they’re simply known as great songwriters–nor should Ben Walker. He’s a writer of songs. That’s what he does. The Single “Head In The Clouds” has already attracted over 13,000 views of the lyric video within 10 days of release and radio nationally and internationally are adding it to their playlists in droves. Album Launch and A Head In The Clouds
Following his highly successful album launch attended by dozens of people at Civic Underground in Sydney’s CBD, Ben Walker is releasing the track from which the title track to the album “A Place I Like To Go To” comes from.
A thoughtful and wonderfully crafted track, “Heads In The Clouds”, is a perfect way to introduce you to the album.
Ben says “Written at the DAG Sheep Station in Nundle with Luke O’Shea and Brendan Smoother, talking about the song, I had this phrase in my head “There’s a place I like to go to” and I knew I wanted to talk about how music for me is that one thing that transforms you into the perfect version of yourself, the best place you can go where nothing but good can touch you, but I couldn’t get beyond the first line! I was sitting outside at the DAG and Luke and Brendan came to join me, I explained the idea, Luke borrowed my guitar and added the riff you hear through the song and the three of us threw out lines. Once we started, the song took 20 minutes!”

Not Country Enough…….Hogwash !!!
Not Country Enough…….Hogwash !!!When Ben Walker released his collaboration with Aimee Hannan, he was unsure as to how the Country fraternity would take the song. Would it be accepted in the manner it was meant? Tongue in cheek. Would Country Radio like and play it? It’s obvious now all his concerns were totally unfounded. With thanks to radio presenters across Australia, “Just Not Country Enough” is receiving great airplay and has been showcased on ABC Country’s “Edge of Country” show and is currently charting on the Country Radio Chart. Acclaimed song writers across the country have called us at CS Management to heap praise on the quirky writing of the song, remarking at it’s cleverness, not to mention the teaming with the amazing talents of Aimee Hannan. In the meantime, Ben is working toward his ticketed show at the Tamworth Regional Gallery during Festival, Tuesday 23rd January at 6pm. If you would like to attend you can book here: Country/Folk with Ben Walker | TryBooking Australia “Just Not Country Enough” available through CRS Publicity, Mustang Radio Services, AMRAP and all streaming platforms.
